Flooding affects KCAF pet memorial
Anyone who visits the Kankakee County Animal Foundation’s pet memorial this year will notice it is in need of repair.
The memorial has suffered flood damage at Whispering Willows Park, Bourbonnais, since an abundance of rain moved through the area from last winter until now.
The Bourbonnais Township Park District believes that a drainage tile at the park is blocked and that’s the reason high water from the pond will not fully recede.
KCAF plans to at least level the brick base of the memorial this year. This way new engraved bricks can be placed and existing ones can be viewed.
The park district said the memorial may be moved next year to higher ground.
