   About the Pet Memorial Brick

When someone loses a pet, the loss can be as great as losing a family member or close friend. In order to honor pets that have passed away, KCAF has created a pet memorial at Whispering Willows Park, Bourbonnais (1451 N. 4000 E. Rd.). The memorial is a means to honor pets and people who have loved pets throughout their lifetime.

We are offering engraved bricks that pave the ground around a bronze sculpture. Funds we raise from bricks sold for engravings ($50 each) will help our organization continue to provide humane education, low cost spay/neuter services and care for orphaned pets. A Chicago-area artist, Vincent Hawkins with Chicago Fire Arts, has crafted the 30-plus-inch-tall sculpture.

This pet memorial project began in 2005/2006. It is the only pet memorial that we know of in the Chicago and suburban area. KCAF has worked hard to receive donations from area businesses and individuals to erect this memorial at little cost to our organization. Many area businesses and individuals have donated items from bricks to gravel, while some have graciously given us financial assistance. Bricks are 4x8 inches in size. Engraving is done on 2 to 3 lines. 13 characters per line.
